A standing seam metal roof is a concealed-fastener system built from long, continuous metal panels that run vertically from ridge to eave. Where the edges of two panels meet, they lock together into a raised vertical rib, or seam, that stands up above the flat of the panel. That raised seam is the defining feature and the secret to the system's performance. Because the fasteners are hidden underneath the panels and clips, there are no screw heads or rubber washers exposed to the sun, rain, and snow.
This matters more than it sounds. On an exposed-fastener metal roof, every screw is a potential leak point over time as washers dry out and metal expands and contracts. A standing seam roof eliminates those points entirely. The panels attach to the roof deck with hidden clips that let the metal float and move as temperatures swing, which is exactly what you need in Northeast Wisconsin where a roof can go from below zero in January to blazing hot in July. Standing seam is a premium option within the broader family of metal roofing systems we install throughout the Green Bay area.
